Spotting Pins
Point Technologies has developed an advanced spotting pin manufacturing
technology with emphasis on "perfect spots" customized to each
microarraying application. Electrochemically polished pins provide
more consistent, uniform spots, easier cleaning and increased
corrosion resistance. (see article Spotting
Accelerator - 260 KByte - PDF format).
All pins are available as custom pins in Tungsten, Stainless
Steel, Titanium, Nitinol and other metals.
Advantages:
- Tungsten for better resistance :
- Almost four times harder than stainless steel
- More corrosion resistant
- Electrochemical etching and polishing :
- Produces no grind marks, which can be stress concentrators
- Decrease surface tension
- More hydrophobic and more predictable as far as the
quantity of material it picks up and deposits
Split (Quill) Pins adapted to classical Printheads
- Radiused Tips for optimized drop formation
- Tip diameters : 74µm, 89µm, 119µm, 147µm,
175µm
- Spot diameters : 75µm to 215 µm
- Uptake volumes : 0.25µl to 0.64 µl
- Delivery volumes : 0.5?l to 2.5?l
